What is a Doula?
A doula is a non-medical professional who provides physical, educational, and emotional support to a woman and her partner during pregnancy, labor and the initial postpartum period. I will help you prepare for your birth by helping you create a birth plan and ensuring you have all the necessary information you need to make informed decisions. Prenatal appointments are used to answer any questions you may have about the pregnancy/birth process and to help you prepare for labor by going over different positions that bring comfort . I am available to you any time from the moment of hire until 6 weeks postpartum. You can always reach me in between prenatal appointments for any questions or concerns you may have. Once labor has begun, when you decide you would like face-to-face support, I will use my training and experience to make you feel as comfortable as possible, confident in your decisions, and will help you remain calm and informed of different options if there has to be a last minute change to the birth plan.
